Decent 500w PSU around 50 quid

hey guys, im currently looking to upgrade my earthwatts 380w psu that came with my antec case, either for another earthwatts:-
    Antec EarthWatts 500W 80%+ Efficiency PSU - 80mm Fan 4x SATA 2x PCI-E - Ebuyer
    the 500w

    or a corsair i seen?:-
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
    550w

can anyone tell me if the corsair is solid? and noise wise...or suggest some other ones i might look at. can spend around 50 quid and should be at least 500w.

    thanks in advance.

The corsair psu's in general are very highly rated, my 520hx is very quiet, had no problems with it.

yes. I'd reccomend the 520w HX psu. Maybe slightly overbudget

Re: Decent 500w PSU around 50 quid

The HX is modular, and manufactured by Seasonic whereas the VX is manufactured CWT. If you don't care for modular cabling, then the Seasonic SII 500W is definitely worth a look too. Seasonic made PSU tends to be pretty decent, and lean towards the quieter side. Actually, the EarthWatt is also a Seasonic if memory serves right, but it isn't their most quiet PSU (the HX probably takes that title). CWT are by no generic, the VX is an efficient PSU without any apparent faults.

Re: Decent 500w PSU around 50 quid

If I were you, I'd try and stretch towards the £60-65 mark, most 500W PSU's on scan are around that price band. The extra tenner gives you a much larger range of PSUs to choose from.
The 520W corsair HX, or my recomendation, the 500W enermax liberty.

PS. If you need some info on PSUs, talk to Blitzen.

Or an Enermax salesman. Which amounts to the same thing.

Have to say Corsair 520 HX personally.

The Corsair HX520 is very good, you won't go far wrong, just watch the sata connectors they are a little fragile if you are heavy handed with them, if you are gentle with them no problem.

think i'll be puttin in a order for the HX then, modular would be better in the long run aswell, in conjunction with another PSU in the same case? (if i need ore power then).

Oh well, guess I'm a little late.

    I reccomend Tagan!

Tagan TG530-U15 530W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU

    Brilliant PSU's.
