Confused about Q9450 MOBOs and a decent 22" monitor.

I need some help as I'm getting confused!

    I have two questions please?

I need a Motherboard, for my new Q9450 45nm (on order). I can't afford DDR3 so it will have to be a DDR2 board.

I was looking at the EVGA 680i as I thought it was 775, but reading on other forums this board does not work with Q9450!

The other board was the EVGA780i....... Do you guys know of any other mobos for this cpu that are any good or better?

I need a 22" monitor and haven't got a clue which one to go for apart from The Samsung SyncMaster 226BW (2ms) 3000:1. Its about £210 which is my budget but if anyone knows of a better FPS gaming monitor then please let me know?

PS- How do I get free postage from Scan??????

    It's 25 posts

Unless you are planning on SLi (which you shouldn't) then go for something like the Abit IP-35 dark raider. Currently it's scans today only for £58 and its a fantastic board, certainly all you could really want.

    Don't

Seriously though. If you have £400 to burn on a grpahics card then spend £200 now as the GTS will be more than enough for a 22" screen.

Then in a year or two if/when you feel the need for a new graphics card £200 is going to get you the monster card at the time which will kill SLi GTS's.

Also the money saved on the motherboard will mean you save around £300. If you spend that £300 you will get no noticable gain.

Thanks, I've changed my mind now to a single GPU.... out with the SLI idea.

In that case any x38 mobo or you could wait for the new x48 chipset, should be out around the same time as your quad.

The Asus Rampage Formula (x48) is looking very good. Otherwise get the Maximus Formula (x38), prices have started coming down on these now.
