    Dodgy Sound/Chip Fan :S

I built my computer around 2 years ago, and at christmas I bought a new PSU, Hard Drive, and some RAM. Just yesterday when I turned the pc on it made a very dodgy sound, and when I opened it up I could hear it was either from the PSU or CPU, though I wern't not sure which. I turned the computer off straight away and tried several times and I still got this same noise.

So then this morning when I turned it on, it didn't make the sound. Yet it wouldn't boot up, I got an error saying something on the lines of 'the chip fan being too slow', so I presume maybe the CPU is what was making the sound.
Anyone got an idea on what the problem might be? I'm a bit of newbie when it comes to hardware, but as I got a new PSU I'm guessing it could be that. Though I don't know how to be sure :S

The fan on your CPU has probably failed. You will need to replace it. Or possibly the fan on your Northbridge Chipset. If you can get in the BIOS you should be able to see which.
