I dont hink the IP-35 Pro is good value when you can get the X38 QuadGT for only £20 more.
There may not be much of a difference between them but the newer technology is worth the extra as is the extra features surely.

Pretty much dead already isn't it? X48 is nearly out.
Does sound like a good board but the PRO at £90 - £100 is very good value to me.
I'd personally get a dark raider but I'm not that fussed about big overclocks (not that the dark raider can't hit more than approriate speeds for current chips). At £60 you could use the money saved to buy the decent midrange board at the next upgrade but different people have different priorities and upgrade intervals so that wouldn't be the best course of action for everyone.
I am running under the tried theory of older board = less problems, these new boards tend to equal issues correct.
I am willing to look at these new boards though being a tech head :D
Which would be recommended as stable? and would my Q6600 fit in nicely?
The only difference between X38 and X48 is the X48 uses DDR3 memory. Thats no big deal as the difference is tiny, tiny, tiny.
A very few X48's will take DDR2 iirc.
I got my QuadGT with a Q6600 at 3.4ghz stable with NO voltage changes :D
So to say X38 is dead is a bit of an odd statement.
I will go further though.........time will tell whether i will or not though tbh.
BTW....
Temps using the Scythe Mine:
Idle: 21 degrees
Load: 43 degrees
And the cooler is extremely quiet. (and cheaper than the Ninja).
Mini ninja it is.
I assume the X38 is a new chipset and not socket.
Please do go further.
What board would you recommend given my spec posted on the previous page and cooler choice.
what are the main differences between the dark raider and the pro?
You get things like uGuru and esata i think......oh......and the £100+ price tag (when not on Today Only).
Seriously, for a chipset that will soon be 3rd down theline at least, the Pro isnt a good buy for that money.
All the other P35 Abit boards are good value though. The normal IP-35 is very nice and correctly priced at around £60ish aswell. With the Pro version, you certainly dont get £50 worth more board.
Like i said, i wanted a high end board a few weeks ago and the more i looked at the Pro, the more i couldnt ever justify spend around £100 on it.
Yea I agree blitzen, the difference is the onboard cooling heatsinks, and uguru is software anyway isnt it?
The pro also has an onboard fault display and uses all solid state Caps.
