Even with no OC that seems low. What is the breakdown of the 8575 - the three parts of the score?

At stock, on 3D Mark 06, i wouldve expected between 10k - 11k minimum.

Theres something not right there.

thats not right, are all the cores enabled? as i got 13k stock and mine is pretty similar to yours, yours should be higher simply because 3dmark will use all cores(upto 4).

Gfx card set proper?

Re: new rig - 3dmark 06 results

I use dual screen & had both enabled so i could watch & saw the 4 cores red line using a windows sidebar gadget, so i know all 4 cores worked properly.

afaik the gfx is setup correctly, i play team fortress 2 on full on a 24" screen without any problems. That being said, i had had problems with it the last few weeks not responding & causing the PC to hang then refuse to boot. System restore in safe mode sorted this though.

The individual scores:
SM 2.0 Score 3239
SM 3.0 Score 4224
CPU Score 2353

graphics FPS averaged at 26-27 fps
CPU - 0.77-1.16 fps
HDR 35-49 fps

cheers guys

Re: new rig - 3dmark 06 results

Your graphics scores are very low. The CPU I'm putting down to being at stock.

Was this the same machine that you had the Partition problem?

Check out what your voltages are doing and get Rivatuner to see what your GFX is doing, even if you're not going to OC.

I'm wondering if having the two monitor setup might be causing the card to run in 2D mode, rather than 3D.

Re: new rig - 3dmark 06 results

that could be a reason having the dual monitor setup. Also make sure your drivers are up to date, is the card getting really hot? if you havent messed around with the fan speed i suggest you do as mine was @ 29% which let the card get to 80C, i turned up to 50% and it never hits 60(60% keeps it near 50 load)>

Re: new rig - 3dmark 06 results

I havnt touched the fan speed & the card never seems overly hot too me. Iv got the most update drivers.

Thorsson - the thread about my parition problems is over a year old, this is a new( 4 month) old rig.

Iv downloaded RivaTuner but iv never used it before, any chance of a quick run through of where i get the voltages? thanks

Re: new rig - 3dmark 06 results

RivaTuner doesn't show voltage. You need something like Everest to get that. But it can get the rest.

In Main choose the top customize arrow and you will see 5 icons. Choose the one on the right that looks like a yellow magnifying glass over a film strip. This brings up the hardware monitoring graphs.

Choose setup and make sure that Core Clock (ROP & shader), Memory Clock, Core Temp, Fan Duty Cycle & Fan Speed are ticked. You can then leave that running on your "2D" screen while you run a game on the other one and see if anything changes. Also you can report what the values are.

P.S. If you go into the "Why Tighten Memory Timings" thread there is a link to a good tutorial that I posted.

Re: new rig - 3dmark 06 results

I have opened up rivatuner & the 'customize arrow', is it the one directly under/within the 'target adapter' area. Ie where it says 'If you have more than one display adpater installed, you may select tweak target from the list below.'

Once iv clicked on the arrow it brings up 3 options, one with says 'use low level refresh rate', 'use low level desktop colour schemes' and then 'graphics subsystem diag reports'.

Clicking on the last one of the 3 brings up the subsystem dia report, and i see the 5 icons at the bottom, a camera one, 2 magnifying glasses(one over a red book, one over a blue book), then a folder then a floppy disc icon.

Clicking on either of the magnifying glasses doesnt do anything graphically wise.

Am i missing something here? cheers

As a picture paints a thousand words, I refer you to the site I recommended: RivaTuner 2.0 Guide at .:: Derek’s Blog

If you look at the section "Configuring Automatic Fan Control" that shows you how to bring up the graphs. From your description though it sounds like you may have an old version. Make sure you have version 2 - I think 2.07 is the latest.

i had the same problem if its vista 64 then when you download youll get 2 files the rivatuner setup and also a rivatuner.rtd file.

first uninstall your rivatuner then install again. dont run as you need to put the rtd in the rivatuner folder and run it by clicking on it. If it asks you for a program to associate it to then browse for rivatuner.exe.

This allows you to use the program fully in vista 64. now you'll see all the options.

Vista 64 is looking for a signed driver (which rivatuner doesnt have) this is a work around.

Ah, IIRC it's an 8800GTS 512 issue. Wasn't there a BIOS update?
