    Machine playing up??

Ive had my comp a while and had a few problems with it, but now it wont play any games ive got. for example, battlefield 2 which has always worked now wont boot; bioshock has reverted to its default graphics and when i try to change the res it crashes; crysis wont load etc what is going on??? everything else seems to work fine.

    all help would be appreciated.

    What temps are you getting?

Maybe you should reinstall the gfx driver, a pain, but it sounds like a prob with gfx card.

Try downloading (and using) the Video Card Stability Test prog from Video Card Stability Test - Stress Testing & Benchmark the speed of your 3D graphics video card, it may show if you have a problem with your card.

    Re: Machine playing up??

maybe when you installed a game it installed an earlier version of directx that isn't compatible with crysis or battlefield, or your overclocked cpu is going a bit wierd you could have pushed it a bit too far for too long, or you just need to reinstall graphics as vinnyT said.

basically - reinstall graphics, directx and clock your cpu a bit lower.

    Re: Machine playing up??

In that case, back up any data you have and try running Scandisk. If that doesn't work then try re-installing Windows. You could give "Repair" a try first.
