Angry E8400 works on DS3? Gigabyte tech guys treat me like an idiot

I'm not sure if he's good enough to be a tech support staff, too disapointed. Do you guys have tried E8400 or any Penryn CPU on GA 965P DS3 rev1.0 mobo? Please share your experience with me!Thanks in advance!

Anyway, Gigabyte has been wiped off from my list from now on. Anyone insterested in their response to my DS3 motherboard tech problem, please check the screenshot below:

to be fair mate that does seem like the only real option you have in testing it. Baring in mind some of the first releases of these chips where faulty. do you have any friends with motherboards capable of handling the 8400 who will let you test it on?

I've ordered a MSI P35 Neo2-FR already, hope my E8400 is OK. Fingers Crossed.
But I really don't like the tech guy's attitude and he doesn't even know anything more than me. Anything he said are bull****s, he didn't even ask how I flash the BIOS or give me any information of the BIOS. He just sat there and told me ''go to find the problems yourself''
So what he's supposed to do there? Helping only newbies and idiots?

Re: E8400 works on DS3? Gigabyte tech guys treat me like an idiot

I have read so much negative stuff about Gigabyte recently! It makes me wish Id gone with another board to be honest.

Im having trouble with the Patriot Extreme Performance ram I bought recently as I have to manually adjust the voltages to 2.2 which I absolutey cannot get to safetly at the moment. Having read through the Gigabyte forums and seen what tech support have to offer I really cant be bothered to go down that route. Thinking of just RMAing and getting the Asus P5K Wifi as I have heard lots of good things about it.

Anyway, I reckon youve done the right thing going with another manufacturer. Good on you

Aye i have heard some good things about that MSI board although my past experiences with MSI have been mixed so i tend to avoid them nowerdays. Abit seem to get the most apraisal atm in the motherboard world

Re: E8400 works on DS3? Gigabyte tech guys treat me like an idiot

Abit are just as bad/good as any other manufacturer. Personally I much prefer Gigabyte to Abit, my IP35 is much more unstable overclocked than my old GA-P35-DS3R .

What would have probably helped is if the tech guy could write decent engrish

ow man, i just ordered a gigabyte motherboard, hope all goes well otherwise I'll be ruing the fact I didnt go for Asus.

It's a basic board the ga73pvm-2sh cheap as chips, but it supports penryn. i've ordered a wee little e2160 and when i've got some money (late in the year!) then I'll get a e9450 quad or something....hopefully the motherboard will be good with that!

Re: E8400 works on DS3? Gigabyte tech guys treat me like an idiot

Surely they can't be expected to support something that's unofficial? If they do, then great, but I can understand why they're not suddenly shipping out fresh boards for you to try.

i dont think the problem is that they havent offered to ship out new boards etc, its that they havent really offered any solution or even knowledge/understanding to the situation

What would you suggest then? He's already tried flashing the bios/upgrading it. The only solution they can offer is help in isolating the issue which is what they've suggested.

Re: E8400 works on DS3? Gigabyte tech guys treat me like an idiot

im not part of the gigabyte team i dnt know, only suggestion i can give is to ask someone who has had 100% success. Regardless of if the support is unofficial from intel it is still a Gigabyte release (isnt it?) so i would have though they would have more answers as to why it hasnt worked. As i said in my first reply though
