recommend a motherboard

Evening people, sorry it’s another ‘will my computer work?’ thread!

It’s a long story but I have had a lot of problems with motherboards & the rest of my computer is now a year old yet I haven’t used it due to for mentioned problems!

Previous boards I have tried are:
Asus P5N 32 SLI Premium
XFX mb n680 ish9

Due to my experience I will NOT buy an xfx board again (or product for that matter), ever again. I will however buy an Asus board if it comes recommended.

My system so far:-
intel E6600
corsair xms2 dominator 2GB (cmsx1024-8500c5d)
xfx 8800gtx graphics card
ocz 600W PSU
64bit XP pro

So far I am thinking of getting an Asus P5K Premium/WiFi-AP as I have only read good reviews, has everything I could ever want, run fast & I believe will work with everything else I already have; however are there any other boards people recommend I consider?

I will be using the computer for a bit of gaming & uni work. I am studying mechanical engineering so need it to run CAD, MATLab, thermodynamics software etc. Although I don’t overclock at the minute I do intend to learn (hell it would be rude not to!)

So does anyone know if this system will work? I believe everything should but it’s nice to have a second opinion! Also any other boards I should consider?

looks fine but at that level also worth looking at the abit IP35 Pro.
However, you may not need to spend that much - what features do you need & what would you like if you could have?

Yeah that system will work by the looks of it. The abit IP-35 pro is a good alternative to the asus.

The Abit IP-35 dark raider is a great board for £50ish less. It will overclock that chip nicely and it's very stable and reliable.

I use the Asus P5K Deluxe and Yes i would recommend it, has everything i need and more. There are also the Abit's (IP-35) not to be overlooked, they also get recommended on here. If it's a P35 board your after then you won't go wrong with either of these.

The last 3 Mobo's I have have been made by Asus and I've never had a problem with them and as such my new board is an Asus so I would recommend them. Obvioulsy you will probably find some who disagree though, as is the case with almost everything......

Abit IP-35 pro is your future proof friend... I understand this board will take the new 45nm Quads incase you needed to upgrade later on.

The ASUS ones from what I ahve been reading get a lot hotter too.

by the way, the graphics card you chose is an XFX 8800 :P
