    Re: Value my laptop.

Since the new SZ6/7's are very exensive you could fetch quite a bit for the slightly older SZ4. They are certainly a premium laptop and generally sought after

Given that you would get a similar spec Dell XPS M1330 brand new for around £650 you could probably start in this area, possibly more considering its got the geforce 7400..

What kind of condition is it in?

Deffinatly, you get to remove all that rubbish sony puts on without any effort lol. If you don't have a drivers disc it might be nice if you collect all the drivers and burn them onto a disc for the next person though.

    Re: Value my laptop.

Looking on EBay shows the following:

Sony Vaio Carbon Fiber Laptop VGN SZ4/XWN on eBay, also, Laptops, Computing (end time 29-Feb-08 22:08:32 GMT)

In a day you'll be able to see how much it fetched...

But my own view is that the buyer has set the bar a bit high, so you might want to wait 3 days and see what this one goes for:
sony laptop, sony vaio vgn-SZ5XWN/C, sony vaio, boxed on eBay, also, Laptops, Computing (end time 02-Mar-08 22:27:18 GMT)

Or this one where the guy is saying £670 (or £680, he seems a little confused, but then he is at University...)
SONY VAIO VGN-SZ61MN/B New Unwanted Uni Gift £670 Only on eBay, also, Laptops, Computing (end time 03-Mar-08 12:38:57 GMT)

Mind you there is another such ad involving pickup, asking £699.99 in Southall. Maybe they're scammers.

I have the SZ1, it's still stunning. You can download a full set of XP drivers and some of the default apps from Sony:

Sony Asia Pacific : Windows XP Downgrade Drivers and Applications for VGN-SZ4 Series(Zip File)

You're kidding? Laptop at home is incredibly useful. Work wherever you can find some peace; take radio/iplayer streams to the kitchen while you cook; browse forums on the bog; sit in the garden and play a bit of unreal tournament...

That's the exact thing I use my old Compaq armarda for these days, it's battery is dead so not very portable any more but does make a great radio/mp3 palyer while in the kitchen

    Re: Value my laptop.

I use my old sony for downloading mainly as it's very quiet so it can be all the time

Something like yours is a perfect laptop to have around though. Very portable, classy, powerful.. a great all rounder.

I have my XPS M1330 for the same sort of thing now. It does everything I need it to, even plays the games I mostly use my desktop for
