    Scythe NinjaCU (Copper)

It's pretty, it's heavy, it performs very well but... I'd have expected it to do even better. As it is, it is not quite the TRUE beater I expected it to be.

It looks like Scythe is having trouble coming with a 'breakthrough' HSF to replace original Ninja. The Ninja CU is great, but only brings it close to the TRUE.

Guess they really need to bring on the Orochi

Posted it inside the orochi thread a while back.

The video review i saw had a q6600 @ 3.4GHz, 64 degree's under load.. passive! Thats enough for me.

Anyway its only a limited run special edition, they aren't formally releasing it afaik.

Yea, I also mentioned it on the Orochi thread somewhere on the first page. I first found out about it on a video review too - probably the same you saw, when I looked up another video review about the Zalman 'heatsink case' you or someone else posted. But I was waiting for an SPCR review and the verdict is now out. I actually expected it to render my TRUE redundant, but it doesn't look like it's the case.

Since you've made a few builds with the Ninja (I think?), have you tried finding out how far they can push the Q6600 passively (I'd expect it to be possible)? I'd expect the CU to do better, but the question is, how much better?

Personally though, I am not looking for passive, just quiet enough to be silent at about 1-2m.

I've only used it on one quad , the other two are dual cores.

It was a B3 stepping Q6600 though and I didn't overclock it. From my duals I'd imagine a light overclock would be feasable passive. But with a very low speed fan you could probably get to 3.2 quite happily.

One of the things you can do is add another fan on a push pull configuration. nexus fans are ideal. It then turns into soemthings pecial. If the noise bothers you udnervolt it.
