Turning on a PC with 2 hdds, both with vista on

Recently iv had some issues with my video card & the drivers for it. Long story short it all culminated in me not being able to turn my PC on properly. My patience was starting to get stretched, so i deceided to just do a full install with vista on a new hard drive and start again. Iv done this but still have this old vista HDD (cant boot it) with all my documents on etc.

Is there any way i can turn the PC on, booting to my new HDD & setting my old HDD(with vista also installed on it) as a slave, so i can just copy & paste the files i want across. Iv tried plugging them both in and just turning it on, but my PC always tries to boot to my old unbootable HDD.

The old HDD isnt sata powered, the new one is.

you will need to go into the bios and find the boot menu, you should be able to choose what hard drive boots 1st

sometimes pressing F8 or F10 selects a one off boot menu

any idea what make and model your motherboard is so we can find the right buttons to press?

Im guessing he's got a Gigabyte GA-P35

If it's the Gigabyte GA-P35 then press the F12 key to gain access to select which drive to load from

Managed to sort it, changed the boot order round with the 2 hard drives and it booted fine. Just copy & pasteing the stuff accross now.
