    New Build Help

Don't think i've ever posted so much in such a small time

I've basically confused myself way too much to make any sense of anything with computers anymore I have a budget of about £1100 and need a rig primarily for gaming that will last me roughly 2-3 years. I have a monitor lined up (not to be included in budget) - Link - resolution of 1900x1200. Hopefully you guys will be able to run wild and put something together Thanks.

Put the bits i'd have from that in bold. Pretty much the midrange special but everything you will need for a good long while

    Re: New Build Help

I would personally budget the build for £900 and use the £200 saved to buy a good midrange card in 18 months time. Even the fastest card today will probably not be enough for running games at decent settings and high resolution in nearly two years time!!

Ive done the same as Mike and as you can see, there are a good few differences in opinion.

Motherboard: Prefer the QuadGT but depends on the budget. Its a newer board and it is swift . Also boots straight for a Q6600 and i went to 3.4ghz without any voltage increases.

Graphics Card: 8800GTS 512MB is at least £30 cheaper and runs very very quietly. Everything i have thrown at it is maxxd out. Also, nVidia cards hold theeir price longer.

Case: I went for the Antec 900 myself. The P182, although a decent case looks really dated now. The 'door thing' at the front is not pretty. The 900 though has amazing cooling and looks the dogs danglies. For the price of under £70 i dont think there is a better case.

PSU: THe Corsair 520 is good yes. The cables however are flimsy so this puts me off them. I actually own a Corsair 520W and an Enermax Liberty 500W (running my rig in avatar). Just the feel of the COrsair made me change back to my Enermax as everything about the Enermax just feels better quality. The Corsair is marginally more powerful but the Enermax is plenty.

I dont part with cash easily....(short arms and deep pocket), but the parts i recommended i have tried and been perfect for me. I have also tried a few of the parts Mike suggested and didnt find them as good as what i settled for.

Its just down to personal opinion but there ya go!

    Re: New Build Help

    Yoyotech and Komplett have them.
    YOYOtech

I would recommend Yoyotech over Komplett every day of the week though.
