Pure curiosity, what is the need for PC8500?

4x1GB puts a bit more load on the south bridge and often is harder to overclock than 2x2GB. It's also starting to prove cheaper

    Re: 8500+ Memory 4gb

I was advised to go for 8500 if it was in my budget. Was just looking at G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PK PC2-8500C5 (2x2GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK) any thoughts

well if you are very quite drastically overclocking a 1333MHz FSB chip then I guess that makes sense.

Thats the kit I would go for give its standard size heat spreaders, was going to suggest it in fact

The northbridge? 2x2GBkits don't seem to go that high anyway, but as Staffsmike said, PC8500 often isn't needed for much, so OCing beyond that is usually just for 'fun'....

Corsair have released a Dominator kit if you don't fancy the G-Skill, but the price is a bit high as it's just come out.....

    Re: 8500+ Memory 4gb

You're right OCUK are getting some in on 04/04/08 they claim, but I'd take that with a pinch of salt, and anyway they are asking silly money for it. I just got some of this:

    Crucial Ballistix Tracer RED 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT25664AR804)

And it does 500MHz at 5-5-5-15 timings straight out of the box, I've not had chance to see how high it will go yet. I got mine on EBay brand new for cheaper than that, so it could be worth looking around if you are interested.

    Re: 8500+ Memory 4gb

    that G.Skill should be excellent.
they also do a PC8000 version which is pretty similar & usually a fair bit cheaper
    G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-8000C5 (2x2GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ)

    MSI P55-GD80, i5 750
    abit A-S78H, Phenom 9750,
