As some of you know I'm buiding a PC for a friend. He now wants speakers too. Can anyone advise me on a set of computer speakers (2.1, maybe 5.1) at about £100 that will be capable of pumping out his club music at a sufficiently damaging SPL?

Logitech G51 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System - 155W RMS - Ebuyer
Logitechs are definitely good in the bang for buck stakes. You'll get better quality out of a 2.1 system though.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
If you don't mind doing a bit of tweaking once you get them, Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK, are at a good value for money price. They're not the world's best speakers, but they do the job. My biggest complaint is the way my onboard sound tends to favour the bass, so it took tweaking with the bass control on the speakers to find a level that worked well from games to DVD's to MP3's but once I'd got it set, it was fine

Another vote for the G51 here.
Looks like its the G51! I've always liked logitech speakers, I've had my old 2.1s for years. Chears for the recomendations guys!

i prefer 5.1's cloned to 2.1's tbh. and it lets you get a bit more volume without annoying the neighbours

Come to think of it those reviews are crazy! I might have to get some for myself! I think it has to be those

To be honest it was a lucky find. I was originally considering these little badboys Bose Companion 3 until I came across the Accoustic Energy's which were highly rated and half the price.
I think a lot of BOSE products are overated/overpriced.
They're all overpriced.
