    Computer underperforming - graphic card?

Recently i came accross a thread on hexus about what people's computers got in 3dmark06 and i figured id give it a go. I ran it and pulled up a mark of 8532. The general consensus from people was the fact that this was far below what i should have got. Since that test i have reformated (was having driver issues with it anyway) and re-install the latest drivers etc for it, but when i re tested it i got the same score.

Playing games such as half life 2 and team fortress i havnt had any problems but id still like to try and get it sorted.

My computer specs are listed under 'my system'.

    any ideas? cheers guys

You have a better rig then me in theory, make sure the gfx card is clocked correctly and make sure you got the latest gfx card update.

What P35 board do you have DS3/4/6?

    Lasted Chipset Devices?
    Intel® 3 Series ChipsetsÂrubbishINF Update Utility - Primarily for Intel® 3, 900 Series Chipsets

Try the other PCI-E connector from the PSU.

Re: Computer underperforming - graphic card?

I'm sure we've been at least partway here before, but IMO there are only 4 possibilities:

    1. Something's not plugged in proper-like
    2. You've got a buggered up a BIOS setting
    3. Something's broked-like
    4. You have a snafued driver or windows registry

I trust that 1 is not true (i.e. that you have checked connections and swapped out cables), and that only the DDR voltage has been changed in 2 (outside settings that won't affect speed). With regard to 4, it seems unlikely as you should have other problems.

The only way to determine whether somefink's broke is to swap kit. However from what you posted before only the PSU, GFX and mobo could be causing this problem (no evidence that CPU scores are low). In order to determine if any of these is the root cause you need to put the bit of kit in another system, or vice versa, exchange your kit with something different in your system.

There are no real shortcuts to this process other than trusting to blind luck.

Re: Computer underperforming - graphic card?

1- Make sure that PCI Exp. slot is running @ 16x,
2- try to reset ur bios to default
3- monitor ur VGA Temp. while running a benchmark
4- run benchmarks other than 3dmark 2006, and compare the results
5- check ur clock values using Riva tuner
    6- Re-install Windows

YOu dont need RivaTuner to check the clock values.

Just download GPU-Z. Its very useful.

Re: Computer underperforming - graphic card?

    Hello,

This has probably already been said, but I'm at work and don't have time to read the entire thread.

You should install the latest chipset drivers before installing your graphics card driver. Failure to do so will result in far lower performance values due to the missing GART driver. This may not be true for PCI-E based cards that may no longer use the GART driver as an interface. Still, I thought I'd throw it in the mix anyway.

Also, if you have v-sync enabled, this will limit your 3DMark scores.

    laze.
