I've been having some problems building my new PC - initially I thought it was a memory issue, then I wasn't sure if i'd mounted the heatsink/CPU combo properly (cos I'm a nub) and last night after a couple of frustrating hours of random faultage, we spot a SATA connector that looks wrong some how... so we remove the cable, and the plug is wobbling about like a good 'un. Krisl then pulls the plug off the end of the cable, after noticing that the contacts had pulled back out of the plug, and lo and behold, there's 2 pins been crimped on top of each other, effectively shorting the cable out and causing all sorts of bother in the computer... changed the cable and it's sweet as a nut, got windows installed and everything's working a treat. Blummin thing - I'll put a picture up when I get home - never seen anything like it tbh.
