I have an mATX motherboard and speakers that are built into my monitor. Now, i keep getting crackling etc from the speakers? When i have my fish screen saver come on it makes crackling noises and when i move the mouse around the screen!! Help!! I don't have spare speakers or a spare sound card to try?
Any idea why this is happening?

can you test with head phones ?
was it always like this ?
have you tried unpluging cables ?
is there a front panel audio you could test it with ?
is the front panel audio plugged in correct ? try removing
thouse would be my first tests

I haven't heard of any endemic crackling problems for some time. So I'm guessing that you are getting interference between your box and your monitor. Get them around 3' apart and see if the problem disappears.
Tried it with a different mATX mobo and no sound problems!
Could be driver problems I had this with onboard sound.

It's happening because the screen refresh/power draw is interfering with the audio signal/amplification. This could be a fault with your monitor speakers not being shielded correctly/the power to your monitor not being shielded correctly. Try different drivers in case they've put some kind of workaround in, otherwise make sure any power brick for the monitor is placed as far away as possible.
Power is built in. Why is it ok with dif mobo though?
Oh sorry, I misread and thought it was still a problem. Sounds like there was some electrical interference on your audio jack then - if it wasn't grounded to the right thing for example.
But why does it work with one mobo and not the other?
It used to be that certain mobos caused popping because of DMA issues. Not heard of any such issues for a long time though.

Not seen one of those before, or even the chipset. Still when I googled the board, although there were plenty of hits on problems, none of them seemed to relate to sound.
It sounds very much like it's your monitor's speakers that are the problem to me. They'll be crap anyway, so get a pair of Logitech 2.1s and switch the buggers off.
Not the TFT speakers as they are fine on other Motherboards
