    Should i be worried

I just overclocked my q6600 cpu again from 3.0ghz to 3.4ghz my temps during orthos were 60-63 not im done its idling at around 43. I'v got a artic cooling freezer pro cooler installed on top of my cpu.

are these temps usual for this type of oc and cpu? If not could something be wrong with my cooler or paste. Or should i buy another after market cooler? Also can anyone tell me how to increase the speed on a fan thats not controlled by my mobo. I have a P5K-E if that helps.

    Re: Should i be worried

What are you using to measure temperatures? There can be some difference between different measuring software. 63C at load is fine for a quad but it may actually be more if the temps are actually being underestimated.

If your fan is plugged straight into your psu then it should be running at max speed, a fan controller will only lower the speed.

    Re: Should i be worried

Try using coretemp which gives temperatures of the cores themselves. It tends to be higher than most other software

    Re: Should i be worried

If you're overclocking it to that extent I'd be tempted to fit a bigger cooler. The Scythe Mine is a decent cooler and also pretty quiet, and it will probably bring your temps down even more. Others to consider are the Thermalright and Thermaltake types.
    Cave canem!

Load or idle? It's load you need to keep an eye on (sub-65ºC is what you want to aim for).

Check out this article I just found, it pretty much explains CPU temps and the differences between coretemp and other software:

Not at all really, my scythe ninja and g0 are @ 50 degrees per core idle @ 3.5ghz. I keep the speedstep on to keep it cool, otherwise things get hotter. If i do 1/2 hour of prime things get VERY hot and into the 80s.

Way too hot. Either your ninja wasn't fitted correctly/too much gloop, or you have very poor airflow in your case.
