NVIDIA Drivers and Clevo D901C (8800M GTX)

Anyone know whether the standard Nvidia driver set should work on a Clevo? The drivers Clevo have are currently several releases out of date.

I've tried using the standard forceware drivers but they're complaining about not finding any supported gfx card... so either Clevo have bodged something or do I need to drop back to standard VGA/safe mode drivers then install the newer forceware drivers?
