kepping a low ping on 56k!

i know this aint a hardware or oveclocking thing,but... is there any adjustments so i can lower my ping for cs etc...without altering the registry.... is the any programs that will adjust the settings.

Try disabling all your IM, IRC and dwonloads for the time being.
Even with that any online game on a 56k will be a horror. The best tweak you can do is to upgrade your connection.

Just 'cause a load of people play it, doesn't mean everyone else who doesn't play it have to think that everyone else thinks it's the best game in the world. You're seeing things from one point of view mate, being narrow minded about CS means you can't slander it harr harr harr

I been playing CS casually for 3 years now. It even gets to the point when I get banned for getting too many headshots. I consider myself an OK player but I have no intention of hoing into a clan or a league. CS helps me relax - and yes it is one the best games ever made, right after UFO:Enemy Unknown.
