Need help HDD/graphics

hard drive is screeching like crazy checked temps 53*C i think this is high. hard disk is nearly 3+ years old maybe it's on way out.

Also display keeps cutting out sometimes when i full window a browser and i get a blue line which looks like static. very small though.

Ran 3dmark 05 card runs fine.

Installed 3dmark on the hdd which it did fine.

I have another Hdd drive this runs fine.

Could the HDD lead to display errors? or cut outs?

I upgraded to vista could the extra work of had effect the hdd?

Need help because i want to replace which ever one is giving me problems.

The type of errors I'd expect from HD would be corrupted files and BSOD (as a result of corruption in the system files) rather than display errors.

unless it corupts the display drivers

some hard drive manufacturers have tools to test drives try getting one and testing it

Yeah, many issues can look like something different is the problem, but a hot and screechy HDD makes it seem like this is certainly a problem, if not the problem. I hope you've backed up anything important.

If its a seagate you can download seatools, same goes for other manufacturers, download a testing utility and test the HD to know for sure!

its a maxtor diamondmax 10 seems like all these apps are for xp 32 not vista 64bit

No...my seatools works on Vista....plus I made a bootable CD of it, see if you can get a bootable CD made by a friend then? You wont need windows to use it then...
