Overclocking RAM problem..
I am completely new to overclocking but was reading the excellent guide on here by Clunk, but when I checked my system (which I recently built) I was a bit confused.
I have a Gigabyte P35-DS3R with E6750 and 2Gb Crucial Ballistix PC6400 RAM - which I believed to be PC6400 800Mhz, but when I checked with CPUz under SPD it says PC2-6400(400Mhz).
Also in the timings table it says
EPP#1 Frequency is 400Mhz CAS# Latency 4.0, RAS to CAS 4 RAS Pre 4 tRAS 12 tRC 24 Voltage 2.20..
EPP#1 Frequency is 533Mhz CAS# Latency 5.0, RAS to CAS 5 RAS Pre 5 tRAS 15 tRC 30 Voltage 2.20..
I'm confused :help:
Re: Overclocking RAM problem..
If you want to run it at 533 then they are the timings you can run it at.

400MHz is the speed of the ram but as its Double Data Rate (DDR) its dual pumped so its effective speed is 800Mhz.
What i understand from what you have put up there i think it means if you set your ram timings to cas 5 settings then you can overclock it to ddr8500 speeds. Thats just a guess tho, dont try it till someone else confirms
Re: Overclocking RAM problem..
That's what it's saying alright. Nice one, mine only says 500 as a second frequency.
