Another question - Quietest PSU?

Now that I've got quiet case fans, my gfx card has a zalman fan, my processor has Arctic Pro 7 on it, my PSU is by far the loudest thing in my box. It's a coloursIT 700w
I've got e6750, 8800GT, 2 SATA HDD, so between 500-600w?
I'd like to keep it between £50-60 if possible.

Thanks in advance

The corsair's are supposed to be very quiet, not that i have one, just what people say. I have a silverstone Zeus which is the quietest thing in my case, even though the leafblower on my 3870 drowns eveything else out.

The corsairs are certainly very quiet. The 520W HX is great at it's price, modular as well. You won't hear it above anything else, I don't think i've ever heard mine lol

The quietest would either be one of the zalman fanless jobbies.. or the the new Enermax modu82+ (or something like that) which silentpcreview hailed the quiestest of them all (that have a fan)

I can vouch for the Corsair HX PSUs too, inaudible when operating alone.

The Seasonic S12 series are very quiet too. In fact Seasonic make the HX PSUs for Corsair.

Re: Another question - Quietest PSU?

I've never heard my Seasonic S12 - in fact the fan is slow and the air out is 'luke-cool'.
To keep quiet the PSU needs to be of good quality (so that the ratings are true) and run at <50% loading (although this might vary according to make and model) so that the fan stays on its lowest speed.
However, the efficiency of a PSU is at its ~80%+ level between about 20% and 80% of rated load, so there might be a trade-off. (My S12 is 330W but the system on idle is about 45W input so the PSU is only about 10% output - couldn't find a good PSU lower than this with a decent 12V rail).

Re: Another question - Quietest PSU?

I've got the Corsair HX 520W, and it's very quiet, modular and very stable.
