Re: Spec Check and Mobo advice please
Not sure about the E8200.. tbh i would still get a pentium dual core and overclock, you will probably get similar results.
Either than or drop the 8800GT back to a cheaper 9600GT or ATi HD38** and get a Q6600.. ohhh yes quad core :D
That said if gaming is the priority then the 8800, dual core combo wouls be better :)
Re: Spec Check and Mobo advice please
Yup, as soon as exams are over im back to BF 2142 or another new game I can get hooked on :)
Going to order the 8200 and 800gt tomorrow :) and hopefully get it all next week after Easter
Re: Spec Check and Mobo advice please
i'd stick with the quad tbh. not as great a gamer, but it OCs like a beast, and also can last longer...

The Q6600 is actually a fantastic gamer and will come into its own once the games all start supporting Quads.
Buying an expensive Dual Core is a step back imho.
Whether they clock well or not isnt the issue. The fact is, its still a dual core and spending £100+ on something with a life span shorter than a quad is a waste of cash.
Either buy a quad core (any as they are all great) or get a E4*** or a E2*** dual core.
Re: Spec Check and Mobo advice please
E8200 = 117
Q660 = 144
So for £27 I can get quad core, the dark raider and 8800gt. Does that have a better future and I assume 520 Corsair would run that?
Re: Spec Check and Mobo advice please
yeah the PSU is not a problem.
Q6600 with a decent cooler will get to 3.4GHz quite happily in most circumstances. Often they can be pushed to 3.6-3.8GHz with the best of coolers.
Re: Spec Check and Mobo advice please
I just got the OK from Dad for the quad core, partly because im paying for the difference. Is the Arctic Freezer pro 7 good for 3GHz?
Also which ram would be better for overclocking:
OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK)
or
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)
Re: Spec Check and Mobo advice please
Freezer should be fine for that.
The RAM is much of a muchness, I use the geil stuff and mine can reach as much as 1066MHz CAS 5 but others don't get so lucky.
That said you won't even be running it at it's stock 800MHz until the Q6600 is 3.6GHz if running your FSB in 1:1 :)
