AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?
i've got £25 to spend on a CPU heatsink.
Scythe Miné
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
which would be better for a Q6600?
would be looking at an OC of 3GHz, maybe 3.2.
i'm guessing the scythe would be better, but is the Freezer 7 a good CPU cooler?
will i get free delivery on either of these?
how much do you have to spend for the free delivery?
edit: open to any other suggestions under £25 not including delivery.
Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?
From all that I have read, the Scythe Mine is a better cooler, especially with the overclocks you want to reach.
The Arctic Freezer 7 Pro is a good cooler but probably best with Dual Core CPUs and a quad Q6600 at stock, but not upto the Mine's level of cooling.
I also believe the Mine would be quieter as well :)
Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?
would you be able to enlighten on me on how exactly it works?
does it suck the air over 1 half of the heatsink then blow it over the other half?
i think i'll go for the Scythe tbh, but would like to know what the minimum cost is before you get free delivery.

by the looks of it yes, it sucks the air through the first half and then blows it over the second half.

minimum spend is £20 exlc vat http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-he...ease-read.html
make sure to get good thermal paste as well, but im sure you know this.:)
Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?
ooooo!
only just make the £20.
might aswell go for the Scythe seeing as Delivery for the AC7 would put it near enough at the price of the Scythe.
got a tube of Arctic Silver.. apparently it's the best.
took 6'C off my temps with the stock cooler.

it is indeed, i have OCZ 5+ which is exactly the same thing, just in different packaging (it was a little cheaper to :))
Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?
I would get the Scythe Mine as it is a better cooler even though you could still hit 3.4ghz with the AC7 as it is a great budget cooler. I had it on my E6600 for a week while i sourced a Tuniq Tower and done it proud.
Blitzen has a Scythe Mine on his Q6600 and is doing a great job:)
Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?
gonna order the Scythe when my dad gets home..
should be LOADS better than my Intel cooler.
Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?
Apparently, the thermal interface medium has almost no influence, as long as it is some kind of goop:
Thermal transfer compound comparison

but if your overclocking even a slightly increased thermal transfer is better.

For what it's worth........I recently replaced my freezer 7 with a Xigmatek s1283 and got a 6c improvement on my 3.3 dual Allendale.
Scan have it on today only offer occasionally for under £20.
A good budget cooler.
From what I have read the Mine's forte is quiet cooling rather than high end cooling.
Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?
The scythe Mine is a cracking cooler for the price, see the Hexus review :-

well you have invalidated your own comparison right there
Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?
is the Scythe ninja any good without a fan?
would any 120mm work on it?
i've got a Molex 120mm fan sitting about.
what sort of temps could i be looking at with a Scythe Ninja on a Q6600 at 3GHz with a fan installed on it?
Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?
SiM.. you'll be able to tell me :P
the above question, would the Scythe Ninja be a good investment?
Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?
Not sure about the temps... look at my system lol
but its a good heatsink.... you will need a fan, but it does come with one :)
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
I would rather get this though and buy a sharkoon golf ball/nexus/yate loon fan for it.
I would say either of the above solutions is a good investment if you already haven't got a decent heatsink :)
