    Which 24" Monitor

Not sure which monitor to get.
    NEC LCD20WGX2
    Dell 2407WFP-HC
    Dell 2408WFP
    LG L245WP

Has to be no more than £460 (would prefer under £400).

I'm just getting confused after looking at reviews.

    Re: Which 24" Monitor

I'm in the same position, but after quite a lot of reserach (including asking for advice on Hexus) I will probably be buying the NEC. They are part of Mitsubishi, and they have alsways had a good reputation for monitors, and they have a very comprensive spec page on their website (which I'm sure you have found)

    Re: Which 24" Monitor

How about the Acer P243W Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black/Silver monitor

It's available at overclockers for £258:49 and looks really nice with plenty of customer 5* reviews

Has 1920*1200 resoltion and is fully HDCP with VGA/DVI/HDMI ports
    ---------------------------------------------------

almost the same spec, but this time from BENQ

BenQ G2400W 24" Widescreen HDMI/HDCP LCD HD Monitor - Black

    again from overclockers at £260.84
    ----------------------------------------------------
Last and not least a 24" Dell

Dell TrueColour E248WFP 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Midnight Grey

DVI and 5ms response for £270.24 again from overclockers (No HDMI port this time)
    ----------------------------------------------------

Three good brand name monitors there for very decent prices. Sorry for no links but I need to get 5 posts first , and no I'm not on overclockers referral program (if they even have one)

    Re: Which 24" Monitor

Just realised that the NEC monitor you quoted is a 20". If you want the 24", probably the one to go for is this

    NEC Display Solutions - MultiSync® LCD2470WNX

Don't be put off by the price on the NEC website, it is available for less than that. Its big (unique?) selling point is that it isn't a TN panel - I don't know about the others as I haven't specifically checked, but when I was researching, NEC were one of the few mfrs who specically state what the panel technology is.

(I haven't bought it - yet - still feeding pennies into the piggy bank!)

I've got the NEC MultiSync LCD1770NX atm so I know NEC do good monitors but I think I've been brain washed in love the Dell ones.

there is a fancy, and at the same time understated style about dell monitors that is pretty much the best out there... that and the thin bezel's...

    Re: Which 24" Monitor

The Dell 2407WFP-HC has been on the Custom PC magazine's list of 'Elite' components for a while now. They generally make sense (at least to me) and they certainly get to test more kit than most of us do.

Does the Contrast Ratio make much difference? Is there much difference between 1000:1 and 3000:1?

The Dell is winning atm because it's got more inputs and looks sexy as hell.

After a lot of research and viewing I went for a 24" Samsung. But of the ones above the Dell is well rated.

First was price as I only paid £225 and collected from PCW.
All the reviews I read were very good accepting that there was a lot of debate about the panel. But I figured if it was not fit for purpose I would return it. So worth the try. I got it home and out of the box it was superb IMO. Great for games, reading on the net and movies. No regrets at all.

Embarrassing note: DOH Mine is 22" you are after 24" sorry
