I know it's the wrong forum, but I need a quick reply.
Can someone check, the stepping on the below XP1700+ shows that the chip is unlocked isn't it?

don't think they were locked as such - just depends on whether your board is capable of changing the multi - that was the nice thing on some of the abit boards cos you could change the multi to just about anything whereas some others you could only change up to 12.5 - A7N8X shouldn't have any hassle - jiuhb's a good start anyway - is it a dlt

Does that help at all?
DUT3C is what were looking for
a good clocker - but not the best
Ok, rather than spend £40 on it, I'll look at a new Barton 2500! :)
:edit: Can this be moved to Computer Hardware and Overclocking now? Cheers. :)
i had a dut3c 1700xp juihb and it was a good chip the dutc means its vcore is higher than the dlt3c chips which tends to limit the o/c a bit more i swopped for a 2500xp barton chip and the difference is well worth spending the extra £s on i sold my dutc for £35 inc months ago and bought the 2500xp for £60 off the forums
bartons tend to run a bit cooler as well imo
Yes, it's unlocked. They only started locking them in week 39 of this year. 0302 means week 2 of 2003 so that would definately be unlocked.
As for DUTs being worse overclockers than DLTs- I never saw any hard evidence for that TBH. The DUT XP2100s reached some serious speeds!
Rich :¬)
Is there a way to find this from windows? im interested to see what my 1700+ is...
No you need to take the chip out to see the full stepping code on the chip, the only thing you can know is wether its a DUT3C or a DLT3C by looking at the default volage, if I remember correctly DUT3C was 1.6v and DLT3C was 1.5v.
i don't know much about the 1700 chip, but if you buy a new barton it will most likely be locked. This is because most ships are now post week 42, and they started locking the multi after week 39.
You should however still be able to up the fsb to 200 and run it as a 3200+ if you so wished.
Yup. Done.Quote:
