Swapping Asus EzBackup for Intel Matrix?

    Bit of a problem here...

I intend to buy a new DFI motherboard in the not-too-distant future, but my existing Asus motherboard has a feature called 'EzBackup'. As far as I can ascertain, this is a rebranded JMicron RAID solution, which I have a striped RAID connected to.

My question is this: If I take the two HDDs from the JMicron RAID and plug them into the Intel equivalent on the new motherboard, would it recognise the array, or would it need to be formatted?

I am unsure if there is a 'standard' when it comes to RAID, or whether JMicron and Intel would format their RAID arrays differently.

Thanks for any help you can give.

From my experience with RAID arrays, they are pretty much incompatible between different vendors. I moved from NVidia NVRAID to Intel Matrix Storage and had to take everything off the array onto a spare disk (or rather several spare disks on friends computers), format the disks, create a new array on the Intel board and then copy everything back. The process was so time consuming that I've since given up on RAID

I think I may have to do the same Chrisj, there's no way I'm spending this amount of time on RAID ever again.

    Thanks for your help.

There's always software RAID in XP, portable between all hardware platforms, performs really well
