ASUS GeForce 9800 GTX review - TechSpot
'While there were moments where the GeForce 9800 GTX showed a lot of promise, in general it looked a lot like a slightly overclocked version of the GeForce 8800 GTS 512.'

'Evolution, Not Revolution
Those looking for a card that destroys the 8800 GTX need not apply. The 9800 GTX should not be looked as a successor to the 8800 GTX cards.'

Going to head off and have a look at some reviews, but I'm not expecting much other than a reinforcement to those who bought 8800GTs and the GTS revision.
I just hope they're not going to cripple any further optimisations for the 8800 series in future driver updates. It would seem a nice easy way to make the 9800GTX a more justifiable purchase. I wouldn't put it past them.
I just posted in another part of the forums about this.
The price of the 8800GTS 512 and the 8800GTX are rising slightly in the USA because the 9800 series cards havent been received too well because of their poor performance in comparison to the 8800 cards.
If it happens there it will happen here.
I can't understand who would buy this..
It appears to be no better than the cards that have been available for the last 2 years.
They are about the same price as the 8800gtx's but have slightly better specs - memory and core speed. Seeing as i was looking at the 8800gtx i might get one?
HD3870X2 or 8800GTS OC makes more sense to me but fair enough.
Going from nvidia's recent amount of releases I doubt this is just a rumour

Seems the Foolers are out in Force today...
I thought the GX2 was two 8800 GTs put together. Not that I can remember the difference between the GT and GTS anymore.NVIDIA laid the performance smackdown with the release of its twin-GPU GeForce 9800 GX2 graphics card that amalgamated two GeForce 8800 GTS 512 GPUs on to one card, SLI'd them, and added a little extra 9-series magic into the mix.
There were rumours for both the GT and GTS but it turned out to be GTS's..
Well the BFG's have been floating around for £165 and although they only have a modest overclock, they are overclocked none the less. You also get a lifetime warranty with that. So £165 vs Cheapest 9800GTX (£211) where you are only getting a basic warranty etc.. So yeah £45 is the minimum save.
Treat the mrs to something and get the GTS
