Building a gaming pc with these specs.

I posted a thread a while ago and somebody gave me these specs, but at the time I couldn't think I could build it. But wahey, turns out I can after all. I will be able to build this anytime in April. My brother will be able to overclock the Q6600 to 3ghz or more for me.

I have a budget of £800, but I would preferably like to stay below this. I don't want to compromise on anything though, so if you can offer me better alternatives that make it a little over £800 then thats fine.

Can anyone make any suggestions to these specs which would make it better, or if I have missed anything?

Oh, the monitor I will be using is Samsung 22LS4D with a native resolution of 1680 x 1050.

    Any suggestions appreciated (Y).

Nowt wrong with that, will do the job admirably. If you're overclocking, get some quality ram.

And try overclocking it yourself, there are guides a plenty round here

    Re: Is this ok?

Well me and my brother are going to build it together, so he'll probably teach me how to overclock it whilst hes at it. I don't want to do this all by myself, especially for my first build.

As for the RAM, what make would you suggest?

Also, I was thinking about ebuyer for the components, but if anyone can suggest better than I would appreciate it.

I'm having a bit of trouble looking for parts. I've never actually done this yet, so looking for parts is quite a challenge for me.

I've looked at ebuyer, yet can't find all the parts. Same with scan.

If anyone could actually find all these parts on ebuyer for me, I would greatly appreciate it. Doesn't matter if no one can though...*cough cough* haha =P

    get 2x2Gb rather than 4x1Gb G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-8000C5 (2x2GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ) does well in IP35s.

get your post count here up a bit & you will get free shipping from SCAN who stock most of your build spec.

    Right ok thanks.

    2x2GB it is.

I guess I'll have to search SCAN a bit harder haha.

    Re: Is this ok?

There's a few parts missing from ebuyer like the motherboard and dvd drive. had a look through scan and they have everything there. think you meant the samsung sh-s203.

everything at scan not incl the gfx card and memory came up to 450.65 (not incl delievery cost).

they have a selection of 8800gts there so you would just have to pick one that you liked. as for memory, i've got crucial ballistix. they're v. overclockable, had them running at 1167mhz at one time. but they've been on 1000mhz for ages now and they're below stock voltage. geil and patriot i've heard are also good companys but unfortunately scan only do corsair memory

Just under £600 but that doesn't include RAM or DVD (couldn't find an SG-S203 plenty of other S203s though).
IP35 price is Today Only but everything else is full list so there are probably a few more ££s to be squeezed out.

looks ok, but don't have much idea about that ram though. if you're not going to do some crazy overclock it should be fine

I don't think I'm going to overclock the RAM, just the CPU probably.

Does anyone have any better suggestions on the RAM?
