    Okay after some further investigations it would appear that the LG is the one for me. Luckily enough it is also one of the cheapest.

    if you haven't already ordered, try CD Freaks.com - Worlds largest digital storage community who often review all sorts of optical drives including Blu-ray. I used them to shortlist my DVD writer and got a good one ( Pioneer). Another good review site for optical drives is CdrInfo.com - The Hardware Authority Both sites have a "reviews" section and also a forum where people post real world experience of the drives.
