    need advice :)

is there any reason why this wouldnt work well together?

    CPU: Q6600 GO stepping
    GPU: Asus GeForce 9800 GX2 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) retail
    Motherboard: Asus P5E3 Premium/Wifi@N Intel X48 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

do i need a better CPU?

if the above 3 things are compatible, im ordering 2mrw

the case, ram, will be decided later

    Yes but,

Why buy such an expensive motherboard, which requires very expensive RAM?

4GB of decent DDR2 and a suitable motherboard is £150 all in. Your way is more like £300.

    Re: need advice :)

hey mike thx for the reply, but im going for that mobo.

u replied to my other thread saying that the EVGA 9800 GX2 would be a better choice cos of the warranty and support. asus = 3 year warranty. evga = 10 yr warrany. if thats the only difference between them then im going for the EVGA.

would this be compatible with the asus mobo? silly question but i wanna make sure

OK just making sure you know your options

No problem with compatability between that and the asus mobo no.

chobits why are you going for ddr3? you wont see any difference between ddr2 and ddr3. well its your money mate so if ddr3 is what u fancy, so be it but many would disagree with you unless they had spare cash to waste

i would disagree with me aswell lol, but im gonna do it.

seen as we're talking about memory, would this go with the asus mobo?

    OCZ 4GB DDR3 PC3-10666C6 1333MHz ReaperX (2x2GB) Dual Channel DDR3 (OCZ3RPX1333EB4GK)

    i know its alot

oh yeah almost forgot, would it fit in my case? was thinking on getting the Lian-Li PC-B25B Aluminium Midi-Tower - Black

Agree totally with Mike, why pay so much for DDR3 when you can get a decent mobo and ram for virtually half the price?
    Cave canem!

    Re: need advice :)

You won't have any problems but I wouln't buy RAM with those stupid heatsinks.. you never know what kind of problems they will cause. Go for standard heatsinks.

Are you planning on a CPU upgrade anytime soon because the RAM will run no where near it's potential with a Q6600. Again if you are dead sure.. go with the most basic set of DDR3 if you are using the q6600 for the foreseable future.

It is a very good cooler, but it is also very overpriced. If you want to go all out hardcore air cooling, then get the Thermalright Ultra-120 extreme
