Question New Graphics Card for DELL 6400 Lappy?

    inspiron 6400...
i think the x1300 ati card is pci-e... so it can be replaced right?
    its a 1.6 core duo (not c2d) 1gb ram...
i was thinking something like a 8500/600 card...
if so i can just unplug the other and connect the new one right?
    any ideas?
    cheers

Good riddance. Wish I'd done it about a year ago.

Re: New Graphics Card for DELL 6400 Lappy?

Although I don't know whether it's correct for this laptop.. pretty much all low end laptops have soldered graphics cards so they can't be changed. It's a right reserved only for the super expensive gaming jobbies to have upgradeable graphics cards.

Even if you could where are you going to get one?

EDIT: WikiAnswers - Can you upgrade from one graphics card to another if you have a Dell Inspiron 6400 notebook computer

this suggests you can but not to anything worthwhile, only the options that were available to the laptop originally by the looks of things.

Yes. The card will be plugged into the larger board. It will be fairly easy to spot
