    Dark Raider long beep

iP35 Dark Raider arrived before, got it all in, everything seated..
turned it on, GFX card spun up.. then everything switched off
back on again, then it just does 1 long beep after another.

    anyone know what this means?

    Re: Dark Raider long beep

You need to determine the BIOS mfr and then do as Google search to decode the beep code for that BIOS.

    Re: Dark Raider long beep

The switch off and then back on again is normal. The long beep isn't however!

I have that same board but can't remember if the manual defines the beeps?

EDIT: Heres a list :ABIT BIOS beep codes - Universal abit USA Forums

1 long beep is DRAM error
1 long beep coninuously is DRAM isn't inserted correctly

Is the memory new? Is it slotted in fully? Tried different sticks or 1 on its own?

try with just 1 DIMM installed - if it POSTs enter the BIOS & set the RAM voltage recommended by OCZ, iirc it's 2.1V?

it booted up 2 sticks fine.. then upped the voltage to 2.2 (OCZ allow 2.2 under warranty )

    Re: Dark Raider long beep

possibly they aren't exactly the same RAM, (it's not unusual for manufacturers to change actual modules used during production lifetimes)?

what's the chance that they're different RAM when they were purchased from the same place at the same time?

    Re: Dark Raider long beep

    it can happen.
I don't know what OCZ's policy is on labelling when changing modules e.g. Corsair change the revision no. but Crucial don't.

i suppose it could've happened.. not a very big chance of it though.
but it's working, so that's all that matters
    working very well at that..
