I've just noticed that my AMD X2 6000+ is running somewhat hot.

I'm currently just browsing the web and apparently both cores are running at approx 50'c.

Am i correct in presuming that this is somewhat hot?
I'm also sitting at stock speeds.

Looking to get a good air cooler which could help lower the temps but i have no idea where to start tbh.

Airflow in my case is also quite good as I've just upgraded to the coolermaster cosmos.

Light load @ 50°C isn't good but it's not bad either.

Still, a new heatsink won't hurt. What's your budget?

Personally I'd go for the Thermalright Extreme 120, £30 + £10 fan, quiet and great performance. If £40 is too much check out the Scythe Miné or Tuniq Tower 120.

i just bought a Scythe Mine and it's a very big cooler.. plugged it into a power source for the fan on my dad's PC before and it was utterly silent aswell..

need a motherboard to test it on my PC though..

so can't give you any temps or anything but a few people on here are getting 38 - 40'C with a Q6600 at 3.2GHz-ish..

I use an arctic colling freezer 64 its been excellent my 5000Be sits at 3 Ghz @1.35 volts with a max of 47C with dual prime95 running and at £11.68 from scan.
