Connecting laptop screen to Samsung Tv screen help?

If you're trying to get your laptop screen onto a Samsung 26" LCD and you've bought a

Belkin Pro Series HDDB15 Male to Male VGA Monitor Signal Replacement Cable 2m cable (apparently the cable needed), how do you get the laptop screen to display on the TV?

Do you need to change any settings or should it simply be a case of connecting and switching on the laptop?

Should be as simple as plugging in the cable at both ends and choosing VGA as the source on the TV.

There may be a setting in the graphcs card properties to output via the VGA on the laptop. Although I though most laptops just plug in and output.

Some laptops require you to use a function key to switch between internal. external or both screens. Depending on the OS, you may also need to check the display settings from within the OS.

1. What resolutions does the tv support? If it's the tv i've got then 1360*768 is your best bet (check manual)

2.Check the manual for the resolutions supported as hd tv's are very limited with what their compatible with. Also putting it on a non compatible resolution is a nightmare, you have a laptop so should be ok(No blank display).

3. Also don't go over 60hz as most HD don't support nothing higher.

XP > Right click desktop > Properties > Settings > you should have the option to select your new monitor - usually two outlines of a monitors, one 1 one 2

1360 * 768

Sorted now, changed to the lower resolution 800x something,
