    E7200 vs E8400

    Hi

The E7200 is to be released on the 11th of may for $133 or so I have read. This is a 45nm chip clocked at 2.5Ghz and 9x multiplier may be able to reach 4ghz on air could be a good alternative to E8400 that no one can get hold of anyway.

If it is anything like the E4*** chips then it would be good value.

    E8400
    6 MB L2
    3.00 GHz
    1333 MHz FSB

    E7200
    3 MB L2
    2.53 GHz
    1066 MHz FSB

Hmm, no brainer there. It's the E8400 all the way ;P

    Re: E7200 vs E8400

E7200 sounds pretty interesting. 1066FSB will make overclocking eaiser but since a lot of people are mentioning that 45nm can't handle too much over-volting there's no way to predict the speeds you will be able to hit (safely), but even still assuming it goes for around £80 it will be a great chip.

Throwing more than £80 on a dual core at the moment seems like a waste of money to me but each to their own.
