hi
stupid question but here goes:
wanting to build a SILENT htpc with DVDRW and tv tuner.
easiest method i can guess is an amd/p4 flexitx/miniitx system with zalman flower cpu cooler and a big, slow 80mm fan.
thing is - i know the older (COOLER!) cpus aren't that powerful. should be fine for mp3s, divx, tv tuner (nebula DVB pci) but:
if i record from the nebula, i will get (from sudhian forum):
how long would it take to convert that to a bitrate that i would want to put on archived dvd? and if i chose not to change the bitrate, how long could i expect to get on 1 dvd?
You can't change the recording options because in the digitv software because the software is not encoding mpeg 2, it simply records the mpeg2 stream as it is being broadcast, _unmodified_, which is usually 4-6mbps, sound is mpeg 2.0 48khz 256kbps. You can use whatever program you like to convert the mpeg2 file to DIVX etc, or burn it to a DVD with a DVD writer (that's my next toy, the sony DRU500A .
cheers
