    WHICH TV Tuner?

Recommendations for a TV tuner for the PC, not a USB version. Looking for digital because of the big switch off of analogue and was also toiling with a PVR model.

    Thanks

    Re: WHICH TV Tuner?

The two I can recommend from personal experience are (both dual tuners):

    Hauppauge Nova-T 500
    Pinnacle Dual DVB-T Pro

    Re: WHICH TV Tuner?

I have the Nova-T 500 and could also recomment it.
I could find any software, including the bundled software that it ran well with [although this is my experience with all tv tuners] but after and upgrade to vista it works perfectly with Media Centre.

    Re: WHICH TV Tuner?

    Thanks chaps
A little concerned over this statement by Scan though:

**** Also The included Hauppage remote control does not operate under Media Centre. Media Centre requires Microsoft certified remote control ****

What's one of them? Not that I suppose I'm really that bothered about having a remote anyway.

Are you able to record to the HDD from one tuner whilst watching something else on the another tuner?
and presumably freeview is not an issue.?

    Re: WHICH TV Tuner?

The remote doesn't seem to work at all in vista, although I believe that you can get media centre compatiable remotes for about a tenner if you want one.

You can do what you suggested using media centre as well as watch recorded programs whilst recording and watch two channels at a time if you manage to open two peices of tv viewing software. Quite why you would want to do that I don't know but it worked when I did it accidently. If you get the Nova-T500 I found that in vista 64 the install cd did not work but to downloaded driver from their website was fine.
