Okay,
I am trying to overclock an Intel E2200. I have set the FSB to 235mhz (in bios) as this is the most this chip seems happy with without changing the CPU voltage (not possible on this board).
My gripe is that in CPU-Z the MHz fluctuates from multiplier 6 to 11 (default) every couple seconds, dont know why, also that MSi Core Centre (monitoring/overclocking software) states the FSB is about 310MHz.
Anyone have any ideas why?
You have stepspeed on?
unclocks when idle if you do.
Sometimes there are "pot holes" (lets call them) where your chip isn't happy at certain frequencies, maybe try giving it a bigger bump in MHz, but turn step speed off first. Consult clunks overclocking guide in the stickies to, may help
Not sure what stepspeed is.
How do you turn on/off stepspeed?
In the bios. Have a scout around in CPU settings etc.. You will see it.
This board has the worst and most limited BIOS I have ever worked with and does not have a setting for Stepspeed
It's almost certain using it so it should be there.

Updated BIOS and then found it some how, must have been there before but missed it.
Anyway I have disabled SpeedStep and it is still happening
Sorted it out. Was some other CPU setting that was causing it.
