    Re: 3850 £300 build

are you sure the 380W earthwatts be able to handle the 4850?
I know it wont need the stated 450 watts but is that not pushing it...

would like to be able to fit a cooler in aswell!

How much would i be able to push 2180 with a G31 board? Iv used them but never overlocked.

    Re: 3850 £300 build

Assuming the G31 boards have the basic overclocking functions required the native 1333MHz FSB is enough to push the E2180 to 3.3GHz I think, so more than is required or the chip is capable of really.

    Good breakdown here
    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/HD_4850/21.html

I doubt it will struggle with the HD4850 tbh but if you are worried you could go for either this
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130949

or the cosrair 450VX and a very cheap case, coolermaster 331 or something.

    Re: 3850 £300 build

EDIT: Sorry I got my boards mixed up. It was a Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2 iG33 Socket 775 that I had. I do advise you do your research first and make sure that the G31 will play nice when overclocking your processor.

    Re: 3850 £300 build

Last time i used a G31 board it only had the ability to cranik up the FSB. I did turn up a E2180 to 2.5 or something which seemed to work fine, iv had no complaints to him but i would liek to push it a bit further.

From a bit of reading it seems the gigabyte board offers a little more overclockability but if you really want to do it you should get a G33

Looks good to me, I'd personally get a slightly better drive but that seems to be the most reasonable place to shave money from

Yeah drive was a bit of a sacrifice for the graphics card. Worthwhile in the long run though i reckon, can always buy a new HD and slam it in if needed int he future.

I don't think today onlys will save you money particularly but it probably will get you an E2200 for the same price

Saves a bit of overclocking I guess.

There seems to be larger, better? drives for around the 25 quid mark

Edit: Prices seem to have jumped a bit recently, anyway, for a few quid more you can get the following drives:

The Hitachi "Deathstars" as they are often called

My old company actually used that drive in industrial PC's and the failiure rate was actually very low. I have one myself as a back up drive and it's been good so far.

    Re: 3850 £300 build

I've come up with a build for around £360 using the ATI4850, otherwise you could get a ATI3850 for around £50 cheaper, keeping you to around the £300 budget.

    Case: http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=446040
    PSU: http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=644038
    CPU: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132064
    Mobo: http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=657881
    RAM: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/119279
    DVD-RW: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/140649
    HDD: http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=226863
    Graphics: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145524

Here is a review of the motherboard suggested, look around for further reviews of any of the boards/items you look at purchasing.
    http://www.overclockersclub.com/revi...yte_gap31ds3l/

    Good luck with your build.
