    PSU for 9800GTX

I need a PSU that has two 6 pin PCI-E power connectors. The Corsair HX520W only has one afaik. Please suggest something that will work well with my spec.
    Motherboard: Epox 9NPA Ultra
    Processor: Opteron 152 Skt939
    Memory: 1GB DDR3200
    HDD Capacity: About 2.5TB
    Graphics Card: ATI HD2600 Pro
    Power Supply: Xclio 480W

I have 5 hard drives in total, and one PCI-E sata card, if that makes a difference.

I would also like to transfer this PSU to a quad core system, when I finally get around to building one.

Does anyone think that my current PSU that has dual 18A 12V rails would power the card with one of these?

    Thanks guys

    Re: PSU for 9800GTX

    It would power it.
Not sure if i would want to overclock a Q6600 (when you get it) with one though).

This: Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK is my favourite PSU at the moment and its on my shopping list as we speak

That looks like a sweet PSU... a bit pricey though... I think I will shortlist one for my new system

    Re: PSU for 9800GTX

    That Enermax is very good.

Hexus looked at the 625W at CeBit and it was powering a AMD Phenom 9500 quad-core processor; an MSI 790FX motherboard; four GIGABYTE Radeon HD 3850s in CrossFireX; 4GiB of OCZ DDR2 RAM; two Western Digital hard drives; and a DVD ReWriter. So that 525W should do you fine.

The PSU is something you want to put the most money in as possible, dont want to buy a poor quality PSU and then have that causing all sorts of problems.

Oh yeh, you are correct. I misread scan's spec page.

Thanks guys... looks like its between corsair and enermax now...
I'll see if my current PSU works first

    Re: PSU for 9800GTX

Ive got a Corsair HX620W and its a good PSU, though it has been making alot of strange whining latley, im going to see if it does it with the GTX and if it does send it back.

Like I said great PSU but the cables are serisouly horrible, if I would have known how bad they where when I was looking for a new PSU I would have got a different PSU.

    Re: PSU for 9800GTX

The PUS mentioned here hold first ( Enermeax Modu82+) and second place Corsair HX620/520 in the SilentPCReviews ranking of silent PSUs.

So the whining sounds like a problem with it. I have the Corsair HX620 and I cannot hear it at all. Of course I am not using a lot of the availbale power though.

Another one to consideris Nesteq Semi-fanless though it is not modular like the above two.

I got the HX620 as to me it seemed like the best value in terms of price vs performance - it is powerful, silent and about £30 cheaper than the Enermax

    Re: PSU for 9800GTX

Enermax "quality" is a very debateable subject.

Lets hope that the MODU PSUs have better reliability and compatibility than the Infiniti and Galaxy models as they were utter tripe.

I have the HX620 and it has been far more reliable, quiet and compatible than the 5 Enermax PSUs I've had in the last year.

I agree about the corsair cables, they are rubbish, and in fairness to Enermax, they do supply some good quality cables.

Good quality cables are no good though, if the PSU itself doesn't last more than a couple of months at a time.

clunk what happened to the 1000+++++ £250 jobby you had? I have a corsair 620, although I've gone through 3 of them in a year. And anyway I always though enermax made corsair psu's?

I thought some bundles like the XFX 9800GTX came with a converter? so you just plug it into some spare cables

but there's gotta be enough power to begin with.. and it's always better to use PCI-E plugs.
