The graphics card is not really great, but in your budget you can't really get a good gaming card. Do you plan on using this for gaming? If you don't then a cheaper card would do the job.

Why two DVD writers?

The rest is ok.

2 dvd drives so I can bunr from one to the other without using the HDD, is that not faster than using the HDD?

I'd like to use it for gaming, nothing intense, only IL2 1946 and its supposed replacement BoB when it comes out.

So the bits will all work togther, but will this set up be giving me more for my money than buying a ready built system? Still want to build but money is tight, if its no better than pre built then I may well hold off and try to save some more pennies.

i know your budget is tight but id say save up an extra £20-£30 and get a nice bfg 9600GT, way better and isnt much more expensive for what you get.

Everything looks fine except as sim said, dark raider is only £3 more and worth it.

Dvd drive, id say get this one Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK i believe its faster (12x dl instead of 8x) and is cheaper, today only and its @ 12.91 bargin.

I actually find I get more coasters doing it disc to disc on the fly than I do reading it to the hard drive first and then back onto the CD. The only reason I have 2 optical drives in my PC is because I've lost the bay covers for my case, so I thought I'd put my old DVD Writer in along side my new current one.

A certain amount of the data when copying that way goes to the hard drive anywya because the cache on the drives isn't man enough to handle the amount of data on a CD on it's own, although that said with burn proof that problem isn't such a big a deal as it used to be.

if you are on a budget why not save a bit of money and go for the E2160. You can overclock it to pretty much the same speed as the E2220

Also both don't have to be burners, one can be read-only. May save you a few quid.

I presume you also already have an OS as this will also be a significant amount

Add the cost of a case, PSU and cooler for the CPU and then compasre to what you can get ready-made

I also second the HD 3850 at that price. Not a bad card if you don't mind skimping on AA for some new games. It will still play them a decent levels.

The E2160 isn't a bad idea either. You will likely be able to clock it close to 3Ghz very easily on that board.

I have just done a build for someone using that.
The case is good for a lower-mid spec aswell. Loads of connectors too.

For £40 you cant beat that.
