Question Help in building a system for 24" Monitor

I'm on a tight budget, and want a system that meets the below requirements.
It must meet these, so if cost does go up am willing to sacrifice.

Priority of requirements
1. View Bluray movies on 24" monitor (1080p)
2. Gaming - able to play latest games, though not at highest resolution.
3. Internet browsing
4. Work - Spreadsheets, documents
5. Vista home premium

Suggestions
• CPU - E2220 - £61.98
• MOB - Gigabyte S775 Intel P35 - £57.93
• RAM - 2GB (2x1GB) Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator £46.82
• Graphics - 512MB Asus 8800GT £152.62
• HDD - 750GB Samsung Spinpoint F1 £73.90
• PSU - Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 650W £99
• Case - Antec P182 £88.34
• Optical - Pioneer BDC-S02BK £96.34
• Monitor - BenQ V2400W £?

Let me know if there are any components where besides having Bluray and 24" where I can save on.
Thanks

Well if you only want an 8800gt Scan have a PNY 512mb one for 116 quid that saves you 36 quid to start with! That 36 quid you can put on a better cpu?

Re: Help in building a system for 24" Monitor

Most things can be saved on there.

- You don't need dominator ram just get standard stuff ~£30 or get 4GB for £55 - £60 (2x2GB)

-change the case and psu to an antec sonata plus with 550w modular PSU ~£100
Still a very very quiet solution and very good quality.

-As suggested get a cheap 8800GT for £117 or get the GTS for £165 which is better at gaming at 1920 x 1200

I would get an Abit IP-35 dark raider but i'm sure that mobo is fine and the CPU is fine but you might want a decent HSF for a bit of overclocking. Thermalright ultima 90 + fan or Scythe Ninja.

Re: Help in building a system for 24" Monitor

If you want to game at 1920x1200 then you need a fair bit of memory bandwidth and the 8800GTX is king in that department, so this deal from overclockers is quite a steal!

XFX GeForce 8800 GTX Extreme 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (PV-T80F-SHE9)

£165 for a 8800GTX is the cheapest I have ever seen it, and will definately be worth ot over a 8800GT if you want to game at high res, and this one is even pre-overclocked!

Re: Help in building a system for 24" Monitor

I wouldn't fancy gaming on a 24" personally, unless I had a monster PC. If you leave it at it's native resolution, most higher end games will bring the PC to it's knees. And if you lower the resolution, stuff gets blurry/blocky. Or you have to lower quality settings. I'd go with an 8800GTX personally, or I just wouldn't bother. And even with an 8800GTX, there are still some games that will struggle. But you are at least giving yourself a fighting chance with that. If you can really get one for £165 then I'd definitely get that!

A 20" monitor instead could be another option. It would be much easier on your PC for gaming and still looks great. But I'm not sure what that would do to your blue ray films.
