i'm looking for the best combination of motherboard, ram and cooling fan?
i'm upgrading my motherboard, ram and cooling fan. i looking to spend $350-400. this is what i have in mind please give me some opinion!!!
evga nforce 780i
Corsair Dual Channel TWINX 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB)
Zalman CNPS9500A LED CPU Cooling Fan.
should i be put a little extra if i'm overclocking a quad core?
Re: i'm looking for the best combination of motherboard, ram and cooling fan?
Yes that Zalman cooler is likely to be noisy and not as effecient as say a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme or a Scythe Ninja although check that you have the height to accomodate those. The Zalman is not bad though, just noisy.

Are you building an SLi system. You can save a lot of money by getting a decent P35 motherboard (single graphics).
Asus P5K (E wifi etc..) or Abit IP-35 are good examples but since you have a decent P5B though why do you want to upgrade?
I would get a thermalright ultima 90 or scythe ninja for the HSF.
RAM is ok.

why are you buying more ram? you have 3gb already, just get another 1gb stick.

cause i think the p5b premium motherboard that i have is somehow unstable and suck. they don't have the option to rasie the multiplier. the reason for upgrade is that i selling the motherboard cheap to my brother, and i buy a better board for overclocking. thanks for answering my question though!!
Re: i'm looking for the best combination of motherboard, ram and cooling fan?
Umm the q6600 like all the others are multiplier locked, some mother boards allow you to lower it but never raise it above the stock multiplier. (x9 for the q6600)
The only intell cpu's without locked multipliers are the core2duo x6800 and the core2quad qx6700
To overclock c2d and c2q you up the fsb not the multiplier.
