CPU heat :S

I have just run the asus probe. and have noticed my cpu q9450 is running at 35-39 when just on the desktop. is this normal?

put simply.... yes.....that is normal

it's load temps that you need to worry about if they exceed 60-70c

Try using coretemp or TAT to measure the temps, i also used to use asus probe but the temps were unreliable by about 5-10 degrees sometimes

OK its just when i put my scythe mine on one of the push pins on it did not go as far as the others, btw this was less than a mm so i was wondering if that may have effected it

possible could have..but those temps are normal anyway (asus probe ones) so i wouldnt worry too much, mine runs about 36 idle

I would turn the pc off and have a play with that mine. If you try and lift it off gently (by which I mean quite moderatly lol) does it come off all together?

They can be tricky little things to get right.

mines at 42 idle, but as mike says try slightly lifting the heatsink and seeing if it becomes dislodged from the bracket

with a scythe mine you should be getting 20 - 25'C..

i get 20'C at idle with a Q6600 @ 3.25GHz..

the Scythe Mine needs to be fully clipped onto the CPU to work also
mine was hitting 70-ish'C before i realised i'd not done 1 of the pins..

so check that.

according to this little thermometer it's 18.7'C in here right now with the core's being 23 21 20 22
a little lower than average room temperature i guess..

well my AMD 5000+ x2 reports 6 degrees on one core and - 3 on the other so don't believe everything you see

using what program?
Everest and Core-Temp are both very accurate because they use the 'on-die' diodes and don't use any of the motherboards ****

I just used core temp and the temps were like mid-high 40's on idle... i will have to replace probably... wish i went for a screw cpu cooler now

I doubt the cooler is to blame tbh, what does it read with the stock cooler?
