E8400 cpu temp problems fixed yet?

Anyone know if these CPUs still have a problem? I've just received Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit SP1 through my action pack subscription, and am considering installing it for a play. I am going to need a bit of an upgrade though.

Re: E8400 cpu temp problems fixed yet?

the e8400 or any 45nm chip dont actually have the temp issue, its actually a bios/motherboard issue, intel boards seem to be fine but others are reporting it wrong. My e8400 is at 37C idle and yet on load it gets to around 52C in about 1 second , the heatsink is cold and even after about 5 hours it is just under warm.

Nothing really to worry about even when overclocking as this gives you a more cautious approach and using realtemp gives you a slightly more accurate temp, my p5n-d still doesnt show it correctly and still waiting for asus to fix it.

Id say get a quad core if you thinking around the e8400 price range, £170 for the chip compared to £140 for the quad, spend the £30 on a scythe or something for overclocking.

    Hope this helped.
