Turning a Computer Monitor into a TV!!!

I know its possible, I just don't know what I need to buy to make it happen

I have a 22in Samsung SyncMaster 226bw and I want to plug my VHS, DVD, wii etc into it. I'd rather not use a tv card (my computer is fat).

    Can anyone help?

Edit: It has DVI and VGA in. I preferably need composite in (the HD version for the 360 )
    With love and many thanks,

Ummm, digibox with hdmi out and scarts in the back? Might work through the DVI...

I just use the VIVO on my X1950XT for the Wii, looks fine from composite when you're far enough away...

Re: Turning a Computer Monitor into a TV!!!

Without a PC maybe an upscaler, wont look to great at anything but the native res.
Maplin > Video But it will take a lower res from scart/composite and change it into something the monitor can display via VGA.

With the 720p component output from the 360 for HD, maybe an YPbPr to RGBHV converter like this XCM 1080P Component VGA Box -

I never even bothered finding out what vivo does. What software do you need to view it?

The XCM thing looks perfect!!! I'll order one now! I'd still quite like to get the VIVO thing working, its intriguing . I've downloaded the WDM drivers but it isn't reconised

Media player classic, just open a device and point to ATI s-video. It needs changing from NTSC to PAL every time but once that's done it works fine.

Re: Turning a Computer Monitor into a TV!!!

Hmmm, it should just give you a fuzzy or black screen but still work with nothing pluged in.

What card have you got? VIVO worked fine on my X1950XT with the WDM driver from ati.amd.com, but I had no luck ever with VIVO on my GF4 ti4200 (back in the day...). If it's VIVO which isn't as standard on the card then the manufacturer might have a more specific driver.

Good luck, and if all else fails get a £5 TV/video capture card from ebay...

Re: Turning a Computer Monitor into a TV!!!

Wait... do I have to have the "All-in-Wonder" card? It says my card has AVIVO but I don't know if thats the same thing.

I installed the drivers and it still doesn't work.
