What are the best drives these days in the £50-80 bracket, i already have a raptor and so speed is not a huge concern, mainly which are best speed/reliability tradeoff at the price at the moment, should i try and wait for the 1TB samsung f1 and stretch my cash to that or should i go for something different?

if it were my money i'd plump for one of the WD AAKs
I think this is arguably the fastest and probably best in the price range (I believe it uses the new 320gb platters - similar to samsung F1 [1TB - not the 250gb platters of the 750GB models]):
Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD6400AAKS)
Caveat: Some people have had problems with this supplier, the drive is currently fairly difficult to find.
id go for the samsung 750gb f1 spinpoint a great drive
i always buy WD hard disks.
Any of the AAKS models should be fine
look for the 500 -700gb models as they have better ration Gb/££
f1 all the way. although some people have bad experience with samsung drives i've yet to have one :)
