    Noisey Northbridge Fan

I have a Abit KN8 Ultra. On startup the north bridge cooling fan makes a noise, but then goes quiet after a while. I have stripped the PC and taken out the fan, given a burst of dust blaster. Worked fine for a week now the noise is back. What next WD40 or am I going to have to find another cooler?

    Re: Noisey Northbridge Fan

I've had this on previous boards. Its an annoying sound when turning on the first time, but after a minute or two it gets quieter and then goes back to normal.

I never bothered to fix it as there wasnt really a problem, but if you cant deal with it just buy a new northbridge cooler...

    Re: Noisey Northbridge Fan

Better still go for passive cooling on the northbridge

wd40 will dry out to fast, machine oil should shut it up a bit longer, but in the long run your going to have to spend a couple of quid on Quiet PC UK - Ultra-Quiet 40mm Fans

    Re: Noisey Northbridge Fan

I'd go with either the zalman, or one of these Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK, and leave it passive (which is fine if you're not ocing) or slap a fan on.
